Confessions of a Solo Traveller!

Bonjour!

Welcome to my 2024 scrapbook for an incredible and very last minute trip to Paris, France!

My name is Halima Lucas, I hail from California, and am a TV writer. I'm also a professor and taught my first college class this past Fall of 2024. Yes, I know I look like a toddler but I am much older than my appearance. I can be trusted with the minds of tomorrow, I swear!

That said, while I enjoy teaching and sharing ideas with the next generation of storytellers, by November I was feeling the call of the wild! Making my students the center of my life built up the deep need and urge to do something selfish! Something just for me. And with that, I went to straight to the Rick Steves website in desperate search of any one week trip I could take while the students were on Thanksgiving break! I searched and searched and wah-lah! I booked my trip, booked my flight, got the heck out of dodge, and had the trip of a lifetime! My hope is to share my experiences with you and maybe even sway you to take a little selfish trip of your own!

You can't argue with Audrey Hepburn! But I have my own reasons too!

I did the 11 day Best of Sicily tour in 2023, which was incredible but I knew this time around I wanted a trip that wasn't multi-city so I could really relax and not worry about lugging my big suitcase around. I knew I was going to load up on Christmas gift souvenirs.

The Best of Paris in 7 days Tour sets the group up in one lovely boutique hotel right in the middle of everything and we would spend the week exploring renowned museums such as the Louve, historical neighborhoods and structures such as Chateau de Versailles, and fun artsy sights all while learning about French culture! We also learned how to use the Metro so we can easily get around on our own during free time, which there is a lot of! It's the perfect balance of group fun and independent exploration!

I also went during the holiday season which made for beautiful sights around the city, including markets and stands with chestnuts roasting on an open fire for all to try! All free of crowds you'd likely find other times of the year!
